3 Tips for Capturing the Cuteness

POSTED BY dave, 19 October 2007

We all know your pets are cute – there is no denying that fact.Look at their furry little faces! Unbelievable! But how do you show that to the world? Make sure you have some device that captures video (Digital Camera, Camcorder, etc.) and some way to get that video onto your computer, and then go find your pet.

Tip #1: Make sure the room is bright enough.
This is an easy one. Capture your pet footage in the daytime or in a bright, well-lit room. You might be able to see the cuteness with your eyes, but cameras read light differently. If your video is too dark, your pet could look like a blurry, pixilated blob, instead of the wonderful cuddly hot shot you know it to be.

What is that? A Hamster? A bunny? A muppet?

Tip #2: Get the camera up in its face.
Get close. Get real close. There is nothing cuter than the faces a kitten can make when it’s having a blast, or the smiles on a dog’s face while playing. Whenever possible, get your camera real close, and let the cuteness dominate the camera shot. There is a tendency to point your camera down at your pet from above, but you’d be surprised how much more adorable your pet can be when you get down on the ground to it’s level.

Tip #3: Show off the remarkable/interesting.
Every dog barks and every cat meows, but there is something unique about your pet and you know exactly what it is. Show us. Does your dog love to attack your lawn sprinkler? Does your hamster like to dance along your Casio Keyboard? Make your footage stand out and send us something special.

Receipe for success! Bright, Close, and Remarkable!

These tips are intended to help guide you a bit in the process, but don’t be intimidated. The most important thing is to show us your cute pets. Capture the cuteness, and send it on over.
